Herbaceous recently celebrated it’s 8th birthday. Time flies when you’re having fun! The clinic is a labour of love, and I have truly enjoyed growing it into the wonderful working space it is today. As many of you are aware, the charming old building where Herbaceous resides is in a unique pocket of Hampton, and it faces west, which means the clinic is regularly bathed in afternoon sunlight. On sunny days I love to open the door and let the fresh sea air enter the building. I get a real buzz from welcoming people into this special space, and seeing them relax and become more present.
I now wish to share a few words with you about why I became a naturopath. Prior to studying naturopathy in my mid-twenties, I worked in media and advertising for many years. Although this was an interesting and dynamic vocation, I reached a point where I no longer felt motivated about my work, and so I decided to enrol in part-time study, whilst still working in advertising. I quickly became captivated by learning and studying again, especially about herbal medicine, and I soon switched to full-time study. I am very passionate about herbal medicine, food as medicine and health, so this career path is certainly the right one for me. Oh, and I really enjoy working with people (important point!), and seeing the profound change that can occur when people really focus their energy on becoming healthier and more connected with who they really are.
Setting up my own clinic has been one of the best, and most challenging things I have done. Having worked for other people for many years, it took a little while to adjust to being my own boss. Now I wouldn’t change it for the world!
I am about to go on holidays for a fortnight (yay!), so I wish you all a happy start to springtime, and look forward to supporting you with your health goals when I return to Herbaceous on September 18th.
Warm wishes,
Gabriella
