You may be aware that the Federal Government recently announced significant changes to private health insurance.
These changes include the proposed removal of private health insurance rebates for natural therapies including herbalism and naturopathy from 2019. Also included are the following modalities: yoga, pilates, homeopathy, Alexander technique, aromatherapy, Bowen therapy, Buteyko, Feldenkrais, iridology, kinesiology, reflexology, rolfing, shiatsu and tai chi.
I am writing this post because I feel it is important for you to be aware of this very important issue. If you have private health insurance, you may already be claiming on one or more of these modalities.
As a degree qualified naturopath, my daily work involves supporting people to achieve better health outcomes. For example, educating people about the importance of food as medicine, regular exercise and stress reduction can have a profound effect on their health. Many of the people I treat then share this information with their families and friends, which leads to a healthier and more balanced community.
Preventative health care ultimately eases the burden on GP’s and the hospital system.
I strongly encourage you to speak up and be heard. You may choose to write to your local government member, and your health insurer to express your concerns about the proposed changes.
Please share this with your family, friends and other networks.

Power to the people!
Best regards,
Gabriella
